These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legal agreement between you and Cognaru
("we," "us," "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Cognaru, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Cognaru is a wellness and entertainment tool — not a medical device.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Cognaru, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the app.
Our Privacy Policy forms part of this agreement and explains how we handle your data.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Cognaru (or 18 where voice recording features are used without parental consent).
- If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, a parent or legal guardian must accept these Terms on your behalf.
- Cognaru is not intended for children under 13.
3. Description of Service
Cognaru is a neural entrainment and wellness tool that provides:
- Binaural beats
- Isochronic tones
- Amplitude modulation
- Guided protocols for focus, study, relaxation, sleep, and related cognitive states
Cognaru is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.
4. Medical Disclaimer
Important: Cognaru is not a medical device. Its content is provided for informational, educational, and personal wellness purposes only. No doctor-patient relationship is created by your use of the app.
Consult a qualified healthcare professional before using Cognaru if you:
- Have epilepsy or any seizure disorder
- Have a hearing condition (tinnitus, hearing loss, hyperacusis)
- Have a neurological condition
- Have a pacemaker or similar implanted device
- Are pregnant
- Are under 18 years old
Do not use Cognaru as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Do not use Cognaru while driving, operating machinery, or in any situation requiring your full attention.
5. Hearing Safety Warning
Volume is your responsibility. Prolonged exposure to loud audio can cause permanent hearing damage.
- Start at low volume and increase gradually.
- We recommend keeping volume at or below 60% of your device's maximum output.
- Take regular breaks from extended listening.
- Stop immediately if you experience: ringing in the ears, discomfort or pain, dizziness, nausea, or headaches.
Cognaru accepts no liability for hearing damage resulting from improper volume levels, extended use, or misuse. You assume all risk associated with listening volume.
6. Silent Mode & Inaudible Carrier Warning
- Silent Mode uses high-frequency carrier tones (10,000–22,000 Hz).
- Some users may still perceive these tones. If you hear a tone, increase the frequency or reduce volume.
- If you feel pressure or fullness in your ears, stop and recalibrate.
- Silent Mode requires headphones — it does not work through speakers.
7. User Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when registering.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
- One account per user.
- You must notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.

- Relax & Reset Suite (4 modes) — $6.99/month or $49.99/year
- Dual Suite (all 8 modes) — $9.99/month or $69.99/year
- Student Study & Focus — $4.99/month or $34.99/year (30% discount; student verification required)
- Student Relax & Reset — $4.99/month or $34.99/year (30% discount; student verification required)
- Student Dual Suite — $6.99/month or $48.99/year (30% discount; student verification required)
- Lifetime — $149.00 one-time
- Student Lifetime — $99.00 one-time (student verification required)
- VIP Beta — $5.00 one-time deposit (3+ months full access from Beta launch; 100% refundable until launch)
Student verification is carried out via third-party providers such as StudentBeans, UNiDAYS, or a verified university email address.
Payment
Payments are processed by third-party providers (Stripe, RevenueCat, or app store billing). We do not store your card details.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time via your account settings or the app store you purchased through.
Refunds
- UK/EU users have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period for digital purchases, subject to statutory exceptions (e.g., immediate access to digital content).
- In addition to your statutory rights, Cognaru offers a voluntary 60-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, contact us within 60 days of purchase for a full refund — no questions asked.
- The $5 VIP Beta deposit is 100% refundable at any time prior to launch.
Token system
Free-tier users receive a limited number of daily tokens used to access modes. Tokens reset daily and do not carry over.
9. User Content (Voice Recordings & Scripts)
- You retain ownership of any voice recordings and scripts you create or import.
- You grant Cognaru a limited licence to store and process your recordings solely to provide the service.
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you record or import.
- Recordings are stored [locally on device / cloud sync].
- You must not upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
10. Intellectual Property
All Cognaru branding, design, code, and preloaded content (including affirmations and scripts) are protected by intellectual property law and remain the property of Cognaru.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for personal use only. You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app
- Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit the service
- Remove or alter any copyright or trademark notices
11. Acceptable Use
Cognaru is for personal, non-commercial use only. You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Interfere with or disrupt the service
- Use automated scraping, bots, or abuse the service

12. Disclaimer of Warranties
Cognaru is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no guarantees that you will achieve specific results. Individual results vary.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cognaru is not liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
- Hearing damage, injury, or adverse health effects resulting from improper use
- Loss of data or profits
Our maximum aggregate liability is capped at the amount you have paid to Cognaru in the preceding 12 months (or £50, whichever is greater).
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Cognaru harmless against any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these Terms.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Cognaru after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email.
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. You may terminate at any time by deleting your account and the app.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England & Wales.
